Jens Bjorneboe

Jens Bjørneboe (9 Octobre 1920 - 9 Mai 1976) était un peintre, dramatiste, essaiiste, poète et nouvelliste norvégien. Il est considéré comme un des plus importants auteurs Norvégien de l'après-guerre. Il fut aussi un peintre et un professeur d'école. Bjørneboe était un critique virulant et éloquant de la société norvégienne et de la civilisation occidentale dans son ensemble. Bjørneboe s'identifie comme un anarcho-nihiliste. En 1943, il partit en Suède pour éviter le travail forcé. Durant cet exil, il a rencontré la peintre juive allemande Lisel Funk qui devint sa première compagne.

Sa première publication fut (Dikt)(Poèmes) en 1951. Bjørneboe a écrit un bon nombre de nouvelles avec une critique sociale. Parmi celles-ci se retrouve Ere the Cock Crows (Før Hanen Galer, 1952), Jonas (1955) etThe Evil Shepherd (Den Onde Hyrde, 1960).

Ayant longtemps souffert de la dépression et de l'alcoolisme, il se suicida le 9 Mai 1976.
