Le North Star hotel est un hôtel, resté vacant pendant un bon nombre d'années, à Vancouver, en Colombie-Britannique.

Le plancher supérieur du bâtiment était occupé par plusieurs squateurs/euses alors que les manifestant(e)s restaient à l'extérieur.
Les manifestant(e)s déclarèrent que l'action fut décidée suite de l'échec de la Non-Partisan Association de Vancouver, dont le maire Sam Sullivan faisait partie, échec à l'achat des hôtels inutilisés pour les convertir en hébergement abordable. Alors que les coûts de logement dans la ville de Vancouver ont augmenté de façon significative ces dernières années (ce qui fait de maintenant Vancouver le marché du logement le plus cher du Canada), les manifestant(e)s savent bien que les bâtiments composés de chambres simples seront tous convertis en d'autres formes de logement plus onéreuses. En 2006, les fermetures d'hôtel ont entraîné une perte équivalant à 200 unités de logement.[1]

Les militants du comité anti-pauvreté de Vancouver ont déclaré leur intention d'occuper un autre bâtiment dans un futur proche.[3]
L'Anti-Poverty Committee de Vancouver avait également organisé le squat du Woodward's building de Vancouver en 2002.
