etymologie, histoire et usages

Le terme « libéral », au sens premier, signifie "généreux" ; Cervantès utilisera ce sens parmi certains de ses ouvrages. Il existe de nombreux régimes libéraux (monarchique, démocratique, dictatorial, aristocratique, techno-bureaucratique, etc), allant de la démocratie libérale à la dictature libérale. Néanmoins, ces divers régimes apparaissent selon les besoins des pouvoirs politiques ou économiques en place. La démocratie, lorsqu'il n'y a pas de risques (que les institutions sont cloisonnées ou avec les élections pour endormir le peuple), la dictature, lorsque la population tente concrétement de rejeter le libéralisme (politique ou économique).

Il y a donc des régimes dictatoriaux pour imposer de force, à la masse populaire (en lui otant tout moyen de résistance, ne lui laissant que la soumission), le libéralisme économique ou le libéralisme politique. Une fois la chose imposé, la démocratie libérale réapparait.

Dictature libérale

Les dictatures libérales sont caractérisés par l'implémentation politique du libéralisme économique, par l'appui sélectif à des groupes d'intérêts (dés que ceux-ci sont favorables ou plaisent aux aspirations et intérêts des politiques), domination politique d'un seul parti (ayant été démocratiquement élu, ou parvenu par la force) ou d'un unique gouvernant (sans qu'aucun autre parti ou personne ne puisse le concurrencer), ascension de l'idéologie du parti ou du chef charismatique, forte présence militaire et surveillance élevé de la population.

Ce régime dictatorial sur le plan des libertés individuelles ("sauf à protéger certains intérêts particuliers") et libéral sur le plan économique ("sauf à protéger quelques clientèles"), tend à justifier la suppression des libertés politiques (liberté de la presse, liberté d'association, syndicalisme...), de maniére directe (censure politique) ou indirecte (censure économique), du fait de troubles sociaux (provoqués par ce régime libéral), et ceci pour que ces opposants ne puissent se poser en force alternative, ces forces sont donc réprimées par la propagande médiatique, ou militairement, et ainsi le pouvoir préserve la stabilité de l'État/nation.

Ces régimes, ou les idéologies qui les défendent, sont designés de diverses façons... Le néo-libéralisme (ou appelé aussi ultra-libéralisme, voire parfois d'intégrisme libéral) est un mouvement qui tend à imposer le libéralisme économique et à rejeter la liberté politique (à part pour leur usage prosélyte), nuisible, selon eux, à la sauvegarde des principes du droit naturel de la propriété privée des moyens de production (le chili de pinochet avec les chicagos boys est un exemple). Il est également parfois énoncé le terme de fascisme libéral pour faire référence à la même réalité qui existera dans des régimes libéraux dictatoriaux. Une autre désignation est également parfois énoncé, le Libéralisme Autoritaire, mais c'est un pléonasme, puisque le libéralisme est en soit autoritaire. Il limite effectivement parfois l'autoritarisme absolutiste (même si la monarchie absolu ne leur a pas été étranger, sous les théories physiocratiques du despotisme légal), mais en rien l'autoritarisme relativiste ou légaliste.

De nombreux penseurs et idéologues du libéralisme ont théorisés et justifiés différents régimes. Divers auteurs et partisans du libéralisme économique soutiendront des régimes dictatoriaux tels que le régime de Vichy, la dictature de Salazar, la dictature Pinochet, ou celle de Franco, du nazisme, etc.
